Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The main works on the Tivat–Jaz boulevard must be completed by the beginning of the summer tourist season, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Coordinator of the Transport Department Filip Radulovic said, adding that a third shift has been introduced to further intensify the works.
“The goal is to have the entire road, all 16 kilometres, under asphalt by summer, with all four lanes operational by the end of May, which will enable smooth traffic, given that we are expecting increased traffic intensity,” Radulovic said in Parliament, responding to MPs’ questions.
MP Mihailo Andjusic of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) asked Radulovic to specify the date by which the project would be completed.
Radulovic explained that it is a complex project, particularly due to the fact that, after the beginning of works, there was a need to relocate existing and build new utility infrastructure along the route, which required close coordination among multiple institutions and local administrations.
He said that all four lanes will be paved by 31 May.
“The roadway will be safe and vehicles will be able to travel without disruption. The final asphalt layer will not be completed on every section, but the road will be safe and open to traffic. Some signalling and electrical installations will not be finished by 31 May, but we will have four asphalted lanes,” Radulovic specified.
