Proceedings opened over hate speech during Independence Day celebrations

Podgorica, (MINA) – During the celebration of Independence Day, the State Prosecutor’s Office opened two cases on suspicion that criminal offences involving the incitement of national, racial and religious hatred had been committed, the Supreme State Prosecutor’s Office (VDT) announced.
It is stated that state prosecutor’s offices, during the celebration of the Independence Day, had closely monitored events in order to preserve public peace and order, protect citizens and prevent all forms of hate speech, incitement to violence and national and religious intolerance.
“During the holiday, two cases were opened on suspicion that the criminal offense of inciting national, racial and religious hatred had been committed”, the press release says.
According to the VDT, one case was opened against six minors, while another case is under investigation on suspicion that the same offense was committed.
