Police ban concert in Pljevlja on 21 May on security grounds

Podgorica, (MINA) - The Police Administration has banned a Spasovdan concert in Pljevlja scheduled for May 21, at which Mirko Pajcin, known as Baja Mali Knindza, was expected to perform, citing security risks for citizens and property, as well as for public peace and order and multiethnic harmony.

The police announced that the application for this public event was submitted on May 14 to the Pljevlja Security Department, and that it was submitted on behalf of the organizer, the Serbian Cultural Center “Patriarch Varnava”, by person identified as B.J.

“Acting upon the submitted application, the Pljevlja Security Department, in accordance with the Law on Public Gatherings and Public Events, issued a decision not to allow the event to be held for security reasons”, the police announced.

It is stated that it has been determined that there is a “justified security risk that the public gathering could lead to a violation of public peace and order and endanger the safety of citizens and property”.

The Police Administration added that there is also a risk of committing criminal acts, endangering human rights and minority rights, as well as the safety of people and property.

“Finally, this public event could potentially disrupt civic and multiethnic harmony of Montenegro, which is also defined by the Constitution of Montenegro as a civic state”, the press release states.
