Police arrest man suspected of illegal gravel extraction

 

Podgorica, (MINA) - Police officers, in coordination with the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica, arrested V.M. (64), suspected of unauthorized gravel exploitation, the Police Administration announced.

It is stated that the police officers, in cooperation with the Regional Waterworks Montenegrin Coast, the NGO sector, the Water Administration and with the support of the Army of Montenegro, controlled the areas near the Moraca riverbed as part of the action “Kayak”, aimed at suppressing illegal gravel exploitation.

The press release adds that during the inspection, a working machine was found excavating material from a state-owned plot.

According to the police, the vehicle was operated by V.M. (64), who was loading the material into his truck, with Zeta license plates.

“On the order of the prosecutor of the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica, the machine and the heavy motor vehicle were temporarily confiscated, while the prosecutor, after reviewing the case files, determined that the actions of this person contain elements of the criminal offense of unauthorized exploitation and damage during the exploitation of river sediment, and order that V.M. be deprived of his liberty”, the press release said.
