Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to the Turkish Chamber of Commerce Montenegro (TurkCham), investments by Turkish citizens in Montenegro amounted to €25.55 million in the first two months of this year, while total foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows reached €131.97 million.
Executive Director of TurkCham Montenegro Baris Polat said that Turkiye was the largest single investor in that period, which could be interpreted as a signal of confidence.
“The strong growth in investments from Turkiye at the beginning of the year further confirms its positioning as one of Montenegro’s key economic partners,” Polat said in a press release.
He specified that the largest portion of the amount related to intercompany debt, €16.06 million, while investments in domestic companies and banks amounted to €11.17 million, and investments in real estate €8.36 million. According to him, such an investment structure indicates a longer-term presence of Turkish capital through the financing of operations of affiliated companies.
According to the Central Bank of Montenegro (CBCG), total FDI inflows in the first two months of this year amounted to €131.97 million, with the largest share relating to investments in domestic companies and banks, real estate and intercompany debt.
