Podgorica, (MINA) - The Europe Now Movement (PES) submitted to the parliamentary procedure on Monday the new draft amendments to the Law on the Status of Descendants of the Petrovic Njegos Dynasty.
PES MPs Gordan Stojovic and Milos Pizurica had previously withdrewn from the procedure the original version of the draft, which, among other things, proposed deleting the word “violent” from the wording that refers to the annexation of Montenegro in 1918.
The MPs discussed these amendments at the end of last year, but did not vote on them. During the plenary debate, the opposition and part of the ruling majority argued that the amendments would diminish the significance of the historical injustice towards Montenegro, while the proponents maintained that the word ‘violent’ in this context is a legal pleonasm.
Pizurica has now submitted to the Parliament new draft Amendments, which do not propose removing the word “violent” from the description of the annexation of the state.
The new proposal foresees, among other things, that the “Krusevac” castle in Podgorica is transferred to the ownership of the dynasty’s descendants, but that they cannot sell it except to the state of Montenegro.
The amendments also provide for the permanent budgetary allocation for the Petrovic Njegos Foundation in the amount of EUR 100,000 per year, starting from January 1 of the following year.
