Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The Parliament’s Committee on Economy, Finance and Budget will discuss the issue of concessions for Montenegrin airports on 25 February.
Invited to attend the session are Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development Nik Gjeloshaj, Acting Head of the Ministry of Transport Filip Radulovic, and Executive Director of Roko Tolic.
The meeting will be held at the initiative of European Alliance MP and Committee Chair Boris Mugosa, who said that the airports require improvements in infrastructure and business performance.
“The ongoing tender procedure has been discredited for many reasons, as it has lasted more than six years and has been accompanied by numerous controversies, which is why it should be suspended,” Mugosa said in a press release, adding that the existing concession framework has both economic and legal shortcomings.
As he stated, the European Alliance opposes granting a 30-year concession for both airports.
“Other models of valorization should also be seriously analyzed and considered, including the use of EU funds, granting concession for one of the two airports, recapitalization by a foreign investor, foreign management,” Mugosa said.
