Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The National Tourism Organization (NTO) organized a study visit to Croatia for holders of the Montenegro Quality collective label, with the aim of further improving Montenegro’s position as a tourist destination.
The NTO said in a press release that the study visit included participation in the International Rural Tourism Congress, which stared on Wednesday.
“The study group included representatives holding the Montenegro Quality collective label, who, together with NTO representatives, had the opportunity during the three-day programme to learn about key topics related to sustainable and regenerative rural tourism, the development of rural destinations, European policies, mobility, destination branding, as well as the role of local communities in preserving the authenticity of villages,” the press release reads.
According to the NTO, particular emphasis was placed on international cooperation, examples of good practice, digital transformation, and linking tourism, agriculture, and cultural heritage in order to create competitive and sustainable rural areas.
The International Rural Tourism Congress offers an important opportunity for the exchange of knowledge and experience through dynamic discussions, round tables, expert workshops focused on modern trends, and networking with around 400 participants from across Europe.
Part of the programme was dedicated to visits to the rural areas of the town of Rab and Primorje-Gorski Kotar County.
