Podgorica, (MINA) – The amendments to the Labor Law, which provide for extended parental leave and flexible working arrangements, are an important step towards the balance of private and professional life and easier inclusion of mothers in the labor market, said Minister of Labor Naida Nisic.
She presented in the Parliament on Tuesday the amendments to the Labor Law, which align Montenegro’s labor legislation with, among other things, the EU Directive on the work-life balance for parents and carers.
Nisic explained that the amendments foresee minimum requirements regarding paternity leave, parental leave and leave for carers, as well as flexible working conditions for employees who are parents or care givers.
She added that the amendments foresee a minimum parental leave of two months for fathers, which cannot be transferred to mother, and a total duration of parental leave of 14 months.
Nisic said the changes to the law allow parents and caregivers to adjust working schedules to their needs, including flexible working hours, reduced working hours or remote work.
These legal solutions would apply from the day of Montenegro’s accession to the EU.
