New phase of the Pljevlja district heating project begins

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (EPCG) and the Municipality of Pljevlja have officially continued works on the Pljevlja district heating project, which, according to EPCG, marks a significant step forward in improving energy efficiency and the quality of life of citizens.

The company stated in a press release that the opening of the construction site was attended by Minister of Public Works Majda Adzovic, EPCG Executive Director Zdravko Dragas, Mayor of Pljevlja Dario Vranes, and Executive Director of Pljevlja Coalmine Nemanja Lakovic.

EPCG said that the second and third phases of the project, a key development undertaking in the energy sector aimed at increasing energy efficiency, reducing pollution, and improving living conditions, will result in the construction of a 4.4-kilometre primary heating pipeline connecting the Pljevlja Thermal Power Plant with the town.

The works are being carried out by Intermost, as the top-ranked bidder in the tender.

Dragas said that this is a project that should have been implemented long ago, noting that the first phase has already been completed, while the second segment, related to the regulated extraction of steam from the turbine, is currently underway.

According to him, the call for that part of the work, worth around €3.5 million, has been prepared and is expected to be launched soon.
