Podgorica, (MINA) - The pace of closing negotiation chapters in the EU accession process clearly demonstrates that Montenegro is on the right track, said outgoing Hungarian Ambassador to Podgorica Jozsef Negyesi. 

He said this during a farewell visit to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro Ervin Ibrahimovic.

Negyesi, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, pointed out that Hungary strongly supports Montenegro on its EU membership path.

“The pace of closing negotiation chapters clearly shows that Montenegro is on the right track”, Negyesi said.

Ibrahimovic thanked Negyesi for his dedicated work during his diplomatic service in Podgorica, as well as for his sincere friendship and continued support for Montenegro’s EU bid.

As he pointed out, with his engagement, Negyesi made a significant contribution to strengthening mutual understanding and enhancing overall relations between the two countries.

Ibrahimovic also emphasized his gratitude to Hungary for its strong and principled support for Montenegro’s European integration, especially during Hungary’s presidency of the EU Council in the second half of 2024, when Montenegro closed three negotiation chapters.
