Podgorica, (MINA) - Podgorica, along with 16 other European cities, is competing for the title of European Green Capital 2028, said Podgorica Mayor Sasa Mujovic.

He stated in a press release that the competition is very strong with one city each from Ukraine, Denmark, Slovakia, France and Hungary, two each from Italy, Portugal and Poland and five cities from Spain, which confirms the importance of participation in this prestigious initiative.

Mujovic said that they view its candidacy for the Green Capital as a tool to accelerate and enhance important ongoing processes – improvement of communal infrastructure with an emphasis on the wastewater treatment system, expansion of landscaped areas, more efficient public transport, development of the green corridor along the Moraca River.

According to him, the goal is for Podgorica to continue developing as a city where the quality of life is continuously improved through more responsible management of space and natural resources, will the city will remain absolutely committed to that goal.
