Podgorica, (MINA) - No new disposal of hazardous waste in the area of ​​the Podgorica Aluminum Plant (KAP) will be allowed, said Podgorica Mayor Sasa Mujovic.

He announced that the works on the wastewater treatment plant in Botun are progressing very well and that the excavation has largely been completed.

According to Mujovic, the plan is to finish about 35 percent of the biological treatment of the red mud pool this month.

“Alongside with the works on site, I am paying a lot of attention to discussions with representatives of the local community and I am firmly convinced that we are on the right track to agree on the implementation of numerous projects of importance for Botun”, stated Mujovic.

He pointed out that during the entire negotiation process he has had support from Prime Minister Milojko Spajic, as well as ministers Majda Adzovic and Andjela Jaksic Stojanovic.

“I would like to point out that no new disposal of hazardous waste in the KAP zone will be possible, and such a position has been included in the amendment to the State Waste Management Plan 2025-2029, adopted by the Government at the initiative of Minister Damjan Culafic”, stated Mujovic.
