Podgorica, (MINA) – Members of the Montenegrin parliament did not decide on Tuesday on Predrag Krstonijevic’s nomination for a Constitutional Court judge, but only adopted the agenda of an extraordinary parliament session.
The extraordinary session, at which the second round of the vote on Krstonijevic’s election is to take place, was convened by Speaker of the Parliament Andrija Mandic, at the request of President of Montenegro Jakov Milatovic.
The agenda for Tuesday’s session was adopted by the votes of 50 MPs.
Mandic said that 50 votes are more than enough to elect a Constitutional Court judge.
“We have adopted the agenda, and we will decide on this proposal at a later date. You will be informed in a timely manner about the continuation of the session”, said Mandic, adjourning the session in order to proceed with the first extraordinary session.
Milatovic submitted the proposal for Krstonijevic’s election as a Constitutional Court judge to the Parliament on December 3.
In the first round of voting, on December 31, Krstonijevic did not receive the necessary number of votes, as only 25 MPs out of 45 present voted in favor, while 20 abstained.
In the second round, a three-fifths majority, or at least 49 votes, is required for his election.
