Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to ruling majority MPs, proposed amendments to the laws on business organizations and the registration of business and other entities improve existing legal solutions, while the opposition warns that businesses are facing an economic blockade and that the state budget has been negatively affected.
MP Mirsad Nurkovic of the Bosniak Party believes that the proposed amendments are necessary to avoid jeopardizing Montenegro’s upward trend in company establishment and employment.
“The proposed amendments improve existing legal provisions, which I consider a very productive way of addressing problems,” Nurkovic said.
MP Boris Mugosa of the Social Democrats (SD) warned that laws are being adopted hastily.
“You don't even know what you are adopting, nor how it will be implemented,” Mugosa said.
He asked whether European integration requires adopting laws that cannot be implemented.
“Who is responsible for the fact that not a single new company could be established from 1 January to the end of March and what is the damage to the budget because of that?” Mugosa asked.
MP Aleksandra Despotovic of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) said that the Law on Business Companies is very complex.
“On 25 July, the ruling majority was convincing us that the law was perfect and excellent and would have outstanding implementation. The law has 763 pages and 600 articles, and some are not aligned with certain EU directives. Why are they not aligned,” Despotovic said.
