Motorway completion seen as key to stronger economic development

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – It was concluded at a meeting between Montenegrin President Jakov Milatovc and President of the European Investment Bank (EIB) Group Nadia Calvino that the completion of the motorway is among the key infrastructure priorities and a precondition for stronger economic development, better connectivity, greater safety, and new investments.

 

The President’s Office said in a press release the they agreed that the modernization of railway infrastructure remains an important long-term goal, particularly in the context of more efficient and sustainable transport of people and goods, as well as better integration of Montenegro with European markets and transport systems.

 

Milatovic met with Calvino as part of talks dedicated to strengthening the partnership between Montenegro and the EIB, as well as continuing support for the country’s strategic development projects and European integration.

 

The meeting focused on current and planned projects in the field of road and railway transport, including the continuation of highway construction and railway infrastructure modernization, as well as improving Montenegro’s regional connectivity with European transport corridors.

 

Special attention was devoted to environmental and utility infrastructure projects, particularly investments in water supply and wastewater treatment systems in several Montenegrin municipalities, which are of direct importance for environmental protection and public health.
