Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Compared to the same period last year, passenger transport recorded growth in air traffic in the first quarter of this year, while declines were registered in road, local road, and railway transport.

According to Monstat, the number of passengers transported in railway traffic in the first quarter fell by 10.9 percent compared to the same period last year, while road transport declined by 2.3 percent and local road transport by 11.6 percent. 

Passenger traffic at airports, however, increased by 0.6 percent.

Compared to the corresponding period, freight transport saw a decline of 24.4 percent in railway transport, 2.3 percent in road transport, and 10.3 percent in total cargo turnover at ports, while cargo transport at airports increased by 2.5 percent.

The number of tons transshipped at ports in the first quarter was lower by 11.3 percent compared to the same period last year, while cargo handling operations decreased by 10.3 percent.
