Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Compared with the same period of 2024, passenger transport recorded growth in road and air transport, and a decline in local road and rail transport in the fourth quarter of last year.

According to the official statistics, the number of passengers carried in rail transport fell by 15.2 percent, and in local road transport by 1.6 percent, while road transport increased by two percent and air transport by 3.8 percent. 

“Compared with the same period of 2024, freight transport in the fourth quarter increased by 12.2 percent in rail transport, 2.3 percent in road transport, and 1.6 percent in total cargo turnover in ports, while cargo traffic at airports declined by 26.2 percent,” Monstat said in a press release.

The number of tons handled in ports in the fourth quarter, compared with the same period of 2024, was higher by 0.5 percent, while the number of manipulated tons was lower by 6.8 percent.

Statisticians said the number of registered road motor vehicles and trailers amounted to 86,930 in the fourth quarter, 10.3 percent more compared with the same quarter of 2024.

“The number of motor vehicles and trailers registered for the first time in the fourth quarter totalled 8,520, which is 4.2 percent higher compared with the same quarter of 2024,” the press release reads.
