Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to Monstat, there were 307,700 active citizens in Montenegro in last year’s fourth quarter, 89.1 percent or 274,200 of whom were employed.

In this period, 33,500 or 10.9 percent of the total number of active citizens were unemployed. 

Compared with the previous quarter, the number of employed people decreased by 3.9 percent, while there were five percent more unemployed people.  

Monstat’s workforce survey shows that 166.700 or 54.2 percent of the active population are men, while 141,000 or 45.8 percent are women. 

Most of the employed individuals belong to the age group from 25 to 49, totalling 167,600 employed people. Similarly, the largest number of unemployed individuals also belong to the same age group, totalling 23,300 unemployed people,” stated a press release issued by the Statistical Office.

The survey is based on a sample of 1,770 households.
