Podgorica, (MINA) – No members of the Armed Forces of Montenegro (VCG) are currently deployed as part of the NATO Mission Iraq (NMI), the Ministry of Defense announced in response to the current security situation in the Middle East.

“The possible continuation of the engagement of our troops will be decided after a detailed assessment of security risks and in accordance with developments on the ground”, the Ministry stated in a press release.

The Ministry recalls that the NMI mission is an advisory and training mission, established at the request of the Iraqi government to strengthen the capacity of security institutions and contribute to long-term regional stability.
