Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The Ministry of Tourism has signed an agreement with the Mountaineering Association, providing for the development and maintenance of 575 kilometres of mountain and hiking trails across Montenegro.

Minister of Tourism Simonida Kordic said that such projects are of particular importance for improving the quality and diversification of tourism, as well as for fostering stronger development of rural areas and the northern part of the country.

“It is very important that the agreement provides a clear and transparent framework for our mutual relations, with clearly defined obligations and timelines for both the Ministry of Tourism and the Mountaineering Association,” Kordic stated.

 President of the Mountaineering Association of Montenegro Bozidar Janketic highlighted the importance of signing the agreement and cooperating with the Ministry of Tourism.

“I look forward to cooperating with the Ministry of Tourism, because I believe it is the key link for the development of mountain tourism. In the coming period, the Mountaineering Association will do everything possible to justify the trust placed in us and ensure that our trails become the best maintained not only in Montenegro, but also in the region and across Europe,” Janketic said.
