Podgorica, (MINA) – The competent authorities became aware of the case involving a member of the Montenegrin Army (VCG) singing a Chetnik song and initiated a fact-finding procedure even before the video became public, the Ministry of Defense announced.
The Ministry stated that they will, together with the VCG, act in every case of inappropriate, political, ideological or other unacceptable behavior by members of the Army.
It is stated that different incidents cannot always be equated in terms of severity, motive and consequences, but the principle remains the same: the VCG uniform must not be used to glorify any extremist ideology, greater-state project, party activities, or to support individuals connected with serious and organized crime.
“Unfortunately, part of the public, certain media, NGOs and political parties remained silent or relativized such incidents earlier, because, apparently, such dangerous behavior was acceptable to them when it came from their politically aligned circles”, the press release said.
They emphasized that the practices established during the previous regime would no longer be tolerated, when those who didn’t belong to the ruling party were punished, while those who glorified extremist ideologies, criminals, nationalist projects or any form of behavior that compromises the honor of the uniform were protected.
It is added that the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Interior make no difference in the application of the law in any case or towards any individual.
It is emphasized that there is no place in VCG for politicization, extremism, glorification of crime, nationalist or ideological provocations.
