Ministry: Excise duties reduced and fuel prices stabilized

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The Ministry of Energy and Mining announced that excise duties on diesel will be reduced by 50 percent, while those on Eurosuper 98 and 95 will be cut by 25 percent, resulting in only a minimal price increase of around four cents per liter.

The Ministry said in a press release that the Government adopted decisions aimed at protecting citizens’ living standards and maintaining stability in the petroleum products market amid significant disruptions in the global oil market.

“The decisions were adopted at the proposal of the Ministry of Energy and Mining, with the support of Prime Minister Milojko Spajic, and based on prior analyses and assessments of fiscal effects by the Ministry of Finance,” the press release said.

Minister of Energy and Mining Admir Sahmanovic stated that the decisions were made based on careful and continuous monitoring of global market trends.

“Such an approach ensured that the measures were introduced at the right time, neither prematurely, which could have caused additional disruptions, nor too late, which would have had negative consequences for citizens and businesses,” Sahmanovic said.

He added that while preserving citizens’ living standards remains a priority, it is equally important to ensure a stable business environment, as well as secure and regular supply of petroleum products.

The press release recalls that, in this context, it was decided to shorten the pricing calculation period for petroleum products from 14 to seven days, allowing faster alignment with market trends and a more efficient state response.
