Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The Ministry of Energy and Mining denied claims that the state does not have a single liter of fuel reserves, stating that such allegations are completely inaccurate and represent a deliberate and blatant attempt to mislead the public.
In response to what it described as recent inaccurate claims, attempting to convince citizens that Montenegro has no fuel reserves at all, the Ministry said it wants to clearly and unequivocally present the actual situation.
“Montenegro has established mandatory reserves of petroleum products amounting to 44,260 metric tons, consisting of unleaded petrol and eurodiesel,” the Ministry stated in a press release.
These reserves have been in place since September last year and they account for 40 percent of the total legal obligation, in accordance with the Law on Security of Supply of Petroleum Products.
The establishment of reserves began last year after the Law on Security of Supply of Petroleum Products was adopted in December 2024, prescribing for the first time a system of mandatory reserves fully aligned with EU legislation.
