Ministry committed to addressing current challenges in the dairy sector

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management is fully committed to addressing current challenges in the dairy sector, through open dialogue with all relevant stakeholders and with the aim of adopting concrete measures based on realistic capacities and data gathered from the field.

To that end, a meeting was held with farmers and representatives of the dairy and cheese industries, to discuss issues related to market surpluses and ways to overcome them.

The meeting was attended by State Secretary Krsto Radjenovic, Director of the Payment Agency for Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries Marko Radonjic, Director General of the Directorate for Agriculture Miroslav Cimbaljevic, Director of the Food Safety Administration Vladimir Djakovic, as well as Head of the Livestock Inspection Miodrag Dosljak and Director of the Directorate for Inspection Affairs Ranko Bogavac.

It was concluded at the meeting that the situation must be assessed based on concrete data, with clearly defined surpluses and challenges in product placement.

“The Ministry will continue, within its capacities, to actively work on finding solutions in cooperation with the Government and other partners. Particular emphasis was placed on the need to involve retail chains in the process, and it was agreed that they will be invited to the next meeting in order to jointly explore possibilities for the purchase and distribution of domestic products,” the Ministry said in a press release.
