Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – MP Nikola Milovic of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) believes that the Government must urgently respond in order to protect citizens from a new wave of price increases that could occur due to the current energy crisis.
Milovic posted on X that the world has entered a new energy crisis and that the investment bank Goldman Sachs has warned that the price of oil could exceed $100 due to a blockade of maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global oil distribution.
“For citizens, this means a new wave of price increases – more expensive fuel, higher food prices and greater pressure on household budgets,” Milovic said.
He recalled 2022, when inflation reached 17.2 percent and citizens barely withstood the blow to their living standards.
According to him, the question is whether the Government has a plan to protect citizens from this shock.
“Will fuel excise duties be reduced to prevent a domino effect of price increases? If there is no immediate reaction, citizens will once again be the first to pay the price of the crisis – through a higher cost of living and a further decline in living standards. The time for urgent action is now,” Milovic concluded.
