Milatovic’s Office calls on Parliament to form inquiry committee on Sveti Stefan

Milatovic’s Office calls on Parliament to form inquiry committee on Sveti Stefan

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The Office of Montenegrin President Jakov Milatovic has called on Parliament to establish an inquiry committee regarding the Sveti Stefan case, including the arbitration proceedings and the recent settlement that has attracted significant public attention.

The Office reiterated the need for full transparency and accountability in relation to the Sveti Stefan case, including the arbitration process and the recent settlement that has drawn considerable public interest.

“Based on the positions expressed so far and the principles of the rule of law, we believe it is of key importance to provide clear and comprehensive answers to all open questions. In this context, the President’s Office calls on Parliament to establish an inquiry committee and conduct a parliamentary investigation into this case,” the Office stated in a press release.

The Office believes it is particularly important to determine what led to the change in the Government’s approach compared to the period when the arbitration proceedings began, as well as the reasons for the shift in strategy that resulted in the current settlement.

“Citizens have the right to know on the basis of which assessments, legal and financial analyses, or possible political and other influences decisions were made that may have long-term and potentially harmful consequences for state interests,” the press release reads.

Milatovic said he is ready to respond to a call from the inquiry committee and contribute to clarifying all relevant facts.
