Podgorica, (MINA) – Leaders of Montenegrin institutions, primarily the Supreme State Prosecutor’s Office (VDT), should resign if they are not able to resolve the murder case of Dan daily editor-in-chief Dusko Jovanovic, President Jakov Milatovic said.
On the occasion of the 22nd anniversary of Jovanovic’s murder, Milatovic laid a wreath at the site of the crime, in front of the Dan newspaper offices.
Following the wreath laying, Milatovic told the press that the citizens are tired of the empty promises that have been coming from the prosecution and the police for years and that they demand tangible results- murderers and masterminds to be identified and prosecuted.
According to Dan daily, Milatovic emphasized that although a lot of time has passed since the change of the regime in Montenegro, nothing has changed in this case.
“We have not seen anything, neither from VDT, nor from other competent authorities. The citizens and Dusko’s family are fed up with empty promises. We demand justice and the truth. If the leaders of the competent institutions, here I am primarily thinking of VDT, are not able to deliver results, then they should resign from those positions”, said Milatovic.
Milatovic also referred to other unresolved cases in Montenegro, such as the Telekom and Mozura affairs, stating that citizens have the right to question whether the truth can prevail.
