Milatovic seeks continued Estonia’s support on Montenegro’s EU path

 

Podgorica, (MINA) - Montenegro is making significant progress in EU accession negotiations and remains firmly committed to reforms, said President Jakov Milatovic in Tallinn and asked for continued support from Estonia on that path.

 

During his official visit to Estonia, he met on Friday with his Estonian counterpart Alar Karis.

 

According to the press release from Milatovic’s office, the meeting between the two presidents was aimed at further deepening friendly and allied relations between Montenegro and Estonia, enhancing political dialogue, as well as improving overall cooperation in areas of strategic importance.

 

“It was assessed that Montenegro and Estonia foster extremely close partnership relations, based on trust, shared values ​​and a clear European and Euro-Atlantic orientation”, the press release states.

 

Milatovic thanked Estonia for its consistent and strong support for the European perspective of Montenegro, stressing that EU membership is the country’s strategic goal.

 

He emphasized that Montenegro is making significant progress in the accession negotiations and that it remains firmly committed to the reforms leading to their successful completion within the planned period.

 

The press release states that Milatovic and Karis also discussed Estonia’s expert and technical assistance to Montenegro, especially in the areas of rule of law, digital transformation, cybersecurity and sustainable development.
