Milatovic promulgates amendments to Internal Trade Law in the interest of workers

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Montenegrin President Jakov Milatovic has promulgated amendments to the Law on Internal Trade, guided exclusively by the interests of retail workers, while also calling for a non-working Sunday to be guaranteed by the Constitution, as the only solution that provides security for workers.

He promulgated the amendments to the Law on Internal Trade in order to enable employees in the retail sector to have Sunday as a non-working day.

“The amendments to the law, which were adopted under public pressure, are not a solution. The same model that the Constitutional Court has already declared unconstitutional has been adopted again,” he stated in a press release.

He added that, in this way, Parliament is calling into question the rule of law and the decisions of the Constitutional Court, as well as the equality of other workers who work on Sundays.

According to Milatovic, instead of solving the problem systematically and in the long term, a solution has been chosen that depends on the current political will and will again be subject to challenges.
