Podgorica, (MINA) - Montenegro urgently needs open lists, said Montenegrin President Jakov Milatovic.

He wrote this on Friday evening on the X social network after the Parliament adopted of the Law on Internal Affairs and the Law on the National Security Agency.

Following the adoption of the Law on Internal Affairs, Movement Europe Now (PES) MP Miodrag Lakovic resigned from his position in the party and from Parliament, and will continue his engagement as an independent MP.

The law was criticized by the opposition and the NGO sector which pointed out that the aim of the law is to create a police state and that it is violates human rights standards, while the authorities denied these allegations.
