Milatovic: Montenegro to bring Europe together on 5 June

Podgorica, (MINA) - The EU-Western Balkans (WB) Summit, which will be held in Montenegro on June 5, is an opportunity to send a message that Montenegro wants, should and must be the next EU member, said the country’s president, Jakov Milatovic.

He said that Montenegro will bring Europe together at the EU-WB Summit in Tivat, adding that preparations for that event are in full swing.

Milatovic recalled that the Summit is being held in the year in which Montenegro is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the restoration of its independence and that it is the first event of this level in the history of the country.

“All competent institutions, services and teams are engaged responsibly and with dedication, in order for Montenegro to be a worthy host of such an important international gathering”, said Milatovic.

He said that this is a strong confirmation of Montenegro’s international reputation and proof that the country is recognized as a reliable partner that contributes to stability, cooperation and the European perspective of the entire region with its European path and responsible policies.

“The Summit will be an opportunity to send a clear message: that the future of the WB lies in the EU, and that Montenegro, as a European integration frontrunner, wants, should and must be the next member of the Union”, said Milatovic.
