Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Montenegrin President Jakov Milatovic said that Montenegro is entering a new phase of strong economic and political ties with Japan, with a clear goal of positioning the country as a reliable partner for Japanese investors and an increasingly attractive destination for tourists from that country.
In an interview with the Japanese agency Kyodo during his official visit to Japan, Milatovic stated that Montenegro offers a unique combination of stability, economic openness, and natural potential, making it an attractive country for Japan.
“During his visit to Japan, Milatovic held a series of high-level meetings, including with Emperor Naruhito and Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, confirming the highest level of trust and opening a new phase in bilateral relations,” the President’s PR Office said in a press release.
Milatovic emphasized that Montenegro sees significant, still untapped potential for attracting Japanese tourists and has the capacity to position itself as a new, exclusive Mediterranean destination on the Japanese market.
Particular focus was placed on economic relations, with the President highlighting Montenegro’s ambition to serve as a reliable gateway for Japanese investments into the Western Balkans region.
“Montenegro has the potential to act as a bridge between Japan and the Western Balkans, offering a stable business environment and a clear European perspective,” Milatovic said.
