Podgorica, (MINA) - Crnogorski predsjednik Jakov Milatović apelovao je danas na sve političke aktere u Skupštini Crne Gore da pokažu političku odgovornost i konačno sprovedu ključnu reformu izbornog zakonodavstva.
Podgorica, (MINA) - Montenegrin President Jakov Milatovic called on Tuesday on all political actors in the Parliament of Montenegro to demonstrate political responsibility and finally implement the key electoral legislation reform.
“I once again call on all political actors in the Parliament of Montenegro. Do not play with Montenegrin citizens anymore. Vote for this key, essential reform. Vote for open lists”, said Milatovic in a press statement.
Milatovic said that fundamental electoral reforms are necessary for Montenegro, and above all, the introduction of open electoral lists, which would enable citizens to directly elect their representatives in the Parliament.
He recalled that last year he initiated the introduction of open lists and requested a referendum on the issue, stressing that the goal of such reform is to strengthen the democratic legitimacy of MPs and their accountability towards citizens.
“Montenegro needs open lists. We need a Parliament in which MPs have legitimacy that comes directly from the citizens. That’s what open lists are for, to ensure that our representatives are finally accountable to those who directly elect them”, Milatovic pointed out.
