Podgorica, (MINA) - Montenegro, in light of ongoing global upheavals, must strategically build its international identity and strongly promote European and regional integration, said President Jakov Milatovic.
He said this at the St. Gallen Symposium in Switzerland, talking about the challenges and opportunities arising from the redistribution of global power, particularly for the Western Balkans and Montenegro.
Milatovic expressed his belief that “the time has come for Balkan politics to become boring”.
“Meaning stable, predictable and constructive”, added Milatovic.
He pointed to the economic presence of China through infrastructure projects and the influence of Russia, during the war in Ukraine, which, according to him, prompted the EU to view the enlargement policy as a key element of European security.
Milatovic said that Montenegro, as the most advanced EU candidate, aims to become the 28th member of the EU by 2028.
As he emphasized, this goal would serve as a strong incentive for the entire region.
