Milatovic: May well-ordered, just and European Montenegro be eternal

Podgorica, (MINA) – President of Montenegro Jakov Milatovic congratulated the Independence Day, saying that the state exists to apply laws equally for everyone.

In his video address, Milatovic stated that 20 years have passed since the day when Montenegro restored its independence.

According to him, 20 years after the restoration of independence, “we have grown up enough to pass the maturity test – that the laws apply equally in Podgorica, Pljevlja, Niksic, Rozaje, Ulcinj and Cetinje”.

He stated that he will continue to return for reconsideration the laws that violate the Constitution.

“We’ll continue to defend the Constitution together. I will continue to return those laws that violate the Constitution and those laws that are against the interests of citizens and the state, because we all demand responsibility when institutions try to hide behind political trade”, said Milatovic.

He recalled that in a few days European leaders will come to Tivat, to Montenegro, which restored its independence 20 years ago, and is now on the fast-track towards the EU. “We have taken responsibility to finish the job, for which the citizens gave us the mandate”.

He said that 20 years after the restoration of independence, the task is “to turn independence into a good life, to turn freedom into justice, to turn the European chance into a result”.

“Dear citizens, Montenegro is our shared house, which we must preserve by work, order and responsibility. Happy Independence Day. May Montenegro be eternal”, concluded Milatovic.
