Milatovic: Around 150 Montenegrin citizens need evacuation from Middle East

Podgorica, (MINA) – Evacuation from the Middle East is currently needed for about 150 citizens of Montenegro, said President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatovic, citing the data of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), and stating that the Ministry is actively working on evacuation and assistance to Montenegrin citizens in countries affected by the conflict.

Milatovic made this remark following the continuation of the session of the Defense and Security Council, which began in December last year.

Milatovic said that the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Defense, Ervin Ibrahimovic and Dragan Krapovic, briefed the Council members on the current situation.

“It is very important, above all for Montenegrin citizens, to note that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is actively working on evacuation and providing assistance and support to all Montenegrin citizens who are in the countries currently affected by this conflict” said Milatovic.

According to their information, there are currently around 150 citizens of Montenegro who have requested evacuation from the Gulf states.

“The Minister assured us that it will be done very soon”, added Milatovic.

He said that the Council also made important regular decisions regarding the Army of Montenegro (VCG), including adopting the Report on the current situation in the Army and approving its participation in several international exercises and trainings missions for this year.

Milatovic stated that it is good that the Council session was finally held, after many months, and that it is necessary to maintain regularity, so that decisions can be made and the Army can function smoothly.

“It is the duty and obligation of all three Council members to regularly respond to calls for sessions, and I expect that this will be the case in the coming period, especially concerning the the geopolitical challenges the world is facing”, concluded Milatovic.
