Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Representatives of the Ministry of Energy and Mining and the Italian company Renexia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, paving the way for the implementation of new renewable energy projects.

The Ministry stated that the cooperation will focus on identifying and developing new investment sites, improving energy infrastructure, applying modern energy storage systems, and preparing future projects that will contribute to the country’s energy stability and sustainable development.

They noted that Renexia is recognized as one of Europe’s leading companies in the development of wind and solar farms. 

Minister of Energy and Mining Admir Sahmanovic recalled that Montenegro already has strong cooperation with Italy in the energy sector, which is being further strengthened through new agreements and projects.

Executive Director of Renexia Riccardo Toto said the Memorandum of Understanding marks another important milestone in institutional cooperation focused on sustainable energy and industrial development.

“By signing this agreement, we are taking a decisive step forward in institutional cooperation with the Ministry of Energy and Mining. Renexia is developing, among other projects, a large onshore wind power project, designed as a modular and phased undertaking adaptable to the needs of Montenegro’s energy system,” Toto stated.

According to him, the project is focused on sustainable electricity generation from wind and is supported by feasibility studies, environmental impact assessments, and international best practices.
