Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – British Ambassador to Montenegro Dawn McKen said that the independence of the Civil Aviation Agency (CAA) is crucial for air traffic safety.
CAA Director Ivan Scekic met with McKen to discuss current issues and opportunities to enhance cooperation in the field of aviation.
“The progress achieved under Chapter 14 – Transport Policy was discussed, both within the competencies of the ACV and at the national level, with the aim of closing this important chapter in Montenegro’s EU accession process as soon as possible,” the ACV said in a press release.
Scekic noted that, after a long period, the Law on Air Transport is being amended, with the draft currently in parliamentary procedure, following extensive work in the previous period.
McKen highlighted the importance of the CAA’s financial and operational independence, as well as the need for continuous professional development to ensure the effective exercise of its public mandate and the further strengthening of air traffic safety and security.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to exchange views on the Agency’s priorities, as well as on developments and challenges in the aviation sector.
