Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The way reconstruction works on Vojislavljevica Street are being carried out must not lead to the closure of small and medium-sized enterprises operating along that route, said Milos Maskovic, a councilor of the European Alliance.
He said that business owners who had contacted him clearly pointed out that continuous traffic access is a condition for their survival.
“Any prolonged restriction of access to their places of business means a halt in operations, loss of revenue, and a direct threat to the livelihoods of employees. These are companies employing around 900 people and generating significant revenue for the budget, which further underscores the seriousness of the situation,” Maskovic said in a press release.
He added that there is no rational reason for organizing the works in a way that involves a complete closure of traffic and cutting off access to facilities, especially when phased construction models that allow traffic flow already exist.
“Such solutions have already been applied in other projects, and there is no justification for not applying the same practice here,” Maskovic said.
He therefore believes it is unacceptable for the public interest to be reduced solely to road construction, while at the same time ignoring people’s right to work and sustain their businesses.
