Mandic: Parliament committed to adopting all laws important for closing chapters

Podgorica, (MINA) – The Parliament has been continuously in session and is fully committed to adopting all laws necessary for closing negotiation chapters, said Parliament Speaker Andrija Mandic, adding that the Parliament will complete its part of the work on time.

Mandic said this at a meeting with European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos.

According to the Parliament’s press release, he said that Montenegro is in the decisive phase of accession negotiations.

Mandic noted that during the current convocation, the parliament has adopted nearly 400 laws, of which close to 170 were marked with a “blue flag”, that is, as crucial for the EU accession process.

“The Parliament will complete its part of the work on time, although I am truly sorry that certain colleagues from the opposition, who were very constructive in 2025, are now trying to slow down what should be our joint efforts in some rather ill-defined ways”, added Mandic.

He invited the opposition to engage in genuine dialogue and unite around what he described as the wish of more than 85 percent of Montenegro’s citizens.

Mandic said that the Serbian people in Montenegro do not see the EU as a threat to their identity, as some ill-intentioned people claim, but as a framework in which they can be safe and equal.

Kos said that joining the EU is a national project and that it must be supported by all political parties and enjoy the trust of citizens.

“Parliament must be a place where different opinions are directed towards joint solutions. Montenegro is on the final stretch of its path to EU membership. Joint efforts will bring you to the goal”, said Kos.
