Mandic: Freedom is defended through openness, not restrictions

Podgorica, (MINA) – The New Serbian Democracy (NSD) has learned that lists of persons who should be banned from entering Montenegro are being compiled, said Parliament Speaker and the party leader Andrija Mandic and called on those behind such initiative to abandon them.

Mandic expressed belief that it is of crucial importance for the future of Montenegro to remain a bastion of freedom.

“And as such, completely break with all the practices of the former regime of Milo Djukanovic, which violated those freedoms”, Mandic wrote on the X social network.

He said that in this case he was specifically referring to the entry bans for journalists, politicians, athletes and intellectuals.

“NSD has learned that, without the knowledge of our representatives in the executive branch, lists of persons who should be banned from entering Montenegro are being compiled. That is why we want to publicly call on those behind such ideas and plans not to proceed with them”, said Mandic.

He added that in this manner the environment that has been painstaking built is being undermined.

“I want to remind that it was we, Serbian politicians from Montenegro, who responded even to those who banned us from entering their countries by inviting them to visit ours”, said Mandic.
