Podgorica, (MINA) – Part of the Law on Internal Affairs concerning data protection in its original version will be additionally aligned through amendments after the adoption of the current proposal, said Democrat MP Momcilo Lekovic.
He said this responding to Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) MP Andrija Nikolic, who called on the Government to, following the position of the European Commission (EC), withdraw the laws on internal affairs and the National Security Agency (ANB).
Nikolic called on Prime Minister Milojko Spajic to dismiss Minister of the Interior Danilo Saranovic, accusing him of “misleading MPs by claiming that the adoption of the Law on Internal Affairs is a condition for closing Chapter 24”.
In his response, Lekovic stated that everything Saranovic had said was true.
“The proposed amendments are the result of several months of coordination with the competent directorates of the European Commission. The part regarding data protection from the original version of the law will be further aligned in the coming period through amendments after its adoption”, said Lekovic.
Lekovic said that this was confirmed by the European Commission itself, which indicated two possibilities: “either aligning these provisions with the EU acquis before the adoption of the law, or adopting the law and aligning the provisions before the closure of accession negotiations”.
He pointed out that without defeating what he described as a “police cartel”, which, according to Lekovic, the DPS had installed in the police and without serious strengthening of the police, there would be no joining the EU.
Lekovic also pointed out that it is obvious that the attacks on the security sector leaders: Police Director Lazar Scepanovic, Saranovic, Deputy Prime Minister Aleksa Becic and the head of the Special Police Department Sukovic, began the moment the arrests were launched, first of Aleksandar Mijajlovic, and now of Aco Djukanovic.
