Kos to visit Montenegro over next two days

 

Podgorica, (MINA) - European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos will visit Montenegro over the next two days to reaffirm the EU’s continued support to the country’s accession process, the European Commission (EC) announced.

The Commission recalled that Montenegro has opened all negotiation chapters and has already closed 14, of which six last year, and two more so far this year.

According to the press release, Kos will meet on Thursday in Podgorica with Prime Minister Milojko Spajic, Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimovic, and Minister of European Affairs Maida Gorcevic.

“The meetings will focus on the reform progress Montenegro has achieved on its EU path, as well as on the implementation of the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans, which foresees up to EUR 383.5 million for Montenegro, subject to the successful implementation of the reforms”, ​​the press release states.

The announcement states that Kos will also meet with Parliament Speaker Andrija Mandic, as well as with local authorities and opposition representatives, in order to discuss the importance of maintaining political will and unity in implementing the country’s European agenda.

According to the press release, Kos will visit Niksic on Friday, the European 2030 Capital of Culture, where she will meet with Mayor Marko Kovacevic and tour the Technopolis Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center.
