Podgorica, (MINA) – European future of Montenegro needs to come before party divisions, European Commissioner Marta Kos said, adding that she hopes to see broad support from political actors through an inclusive dialogue.
Parliament Speaker Andrija Mandic met on Wednesday with Kos.
According to the Parliament’s press release, following the meeting, Mandic and Kos, together with European Parliament Rapporteur for Montenegro Marjan Sarec and Head of EU Delegation to Montenegro, Ambassador Johann Sattler, visited the exhibition “Europe, we are coming back” at the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts.
Kos said that the efforts made by the parliament so far are visible, as Montenegro enters the final phase of the EU accession path.
According to her, this has also been demonstrated through the commitment of its leadership to give priority to the EU related laws.
“We are now at a key crossroads regarding the remaining reforms and legislation in the rule of law and fundamental rights. The European future of Montenegro needs to come before party divisions and we hope to see broad support from all political actors through an inclusive dialogue”, said Kos.
Mandic emphasized that the policy he have been advocating for, both in the past and today, is a unifying one, and that he is proud to point out that today he is the oldest leader of the bloc for the community of developed European countries and the EU.
“Our job is to make Montenegro a community of rich and happy people”, said Mandic.
