Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Mountain tourism holds one of Montenegro’s most important development potentials, said Minister of Tourism Simonida Kordic, adding that the key to further growth lies in balancing competitiveness and sustainability.
“I believe we have a special responsibility to develop policies that will make tourism both competitive and sustainable,” Kordić said at the World Congress on Mountain and Wellness Tourism in Andorra.
According to her, Europe remains the world’s leading tourist region, which is why it is important to continuously strengthen cooperation among European countries.
Kordic, who also serves as President of the UN Tourism Commission for Europe, added that mountain destinations play a special role in modern tourism, as they offer exactly what tourists increasingly seek – authenticity, preserved nature, tradition, local gastronomy, and experiences that allow for a deeper understanding of a destination.
Speaking about the challenges faced by mountain destinations, she noted that digital transformation and climate change are among the key issues shaping the future of tourism development.
