Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Minister of Tourism Simonida Kordic said that Montenegro is entering a period of higher tourist activity, adding the first indicators are encouraging.

“We have excellent initial figures, with 27 percent more tourists than last year, and it is necessary for all of us to work together to maintain this trend,” Kordić said at a meeting of the Coordination Body for the Preparation and Monitoring of Tourist Seasons, where current indicators and activities ahead of the summer season were discussed.

According to her, many surveys show that a large number of tourists will choose Europe as their destination this year.

“This is an opportunity to attract guests who are visiting Montenegro for the first time and motivate them to return in the coming years,” Kordic added. 

Kordic stated that the positive results were supported by improved air connectivity, as well as stronger promotion in key source markets.

She sees potential congestion at border crossings as one of the main challenges in the upcoming period, which is why the relevant institutions will continue coordinating and monitoring the situation to ensure a successful tourist season.
