Konatar: The Government has deceived and disappointed pensioners

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to head of the parliamentary group of the United Reform Action (URA) Milos Konatar, pensioners are victims of misguided economic policy in Montenegro, as a pension increase of 0.38 percent, or €1.74, means that the Government has deceived them.

He said that pensioners are rightfully disappointed, as a 0.38 percent increase cannot offset rising prices, ensure a decent standard of living, or deliver what the Government had promised.

“Misguided economic policy has pushed the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund into a deficit of more than €450 million, just as the Government discriminated against pensioners with 40 years of service by failing to increase their pensions alongside the rise in minimum pensions, which was URA’s proposal,” Konatar stated.

He added that the United Reform Action (URA) will continue to fight for improving pensioners’ living standards and for correcting decades-long injustices, which remains one of the key pillars of the party’s Montenegro 365 programme
