Podgorica, (MINA) - The initiative to withdraw the decision on the recognition of Kosovo’s independence was not launched at Belgrade’s directive, said leader of the Democratic People’s Party (DNP) Milan Knezevic, adding that he expects significant support in the Montenegrin parliament.
Knezevic told Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) that the withdrawal of recognition will be first put forward in the Municipality of Zeta, adding that he expects other municipalities to follow Zeta’s example.
“This is not done at Belgrade’s directive, this is exclusively done according to the directive of the heart, mind, dignity and personality and everything that Montenegro stands for”, said Knezevic.
Knezevic, who is the initiator of the withdrawal, also announced a large meeting in Podgorica on May 10, where the issue will be discussed.
He recalled that the initiative will begin in Zeta, where, as he said, the majority of councilors will adopt a declaration on the withdrawal of the decision on Kosovo’s recognition on the territory of that municipality on May 12, on the Day of St. Vasilije of Ostrog.
Knezevic said that the DNP parliamentary group will then submit a draft resolution to the Montenegrin parliament.
Speaking about the support he expects for the initiative, he said that he has no doubt that they will have the support of the New Serbian Democracy, the Socialist People’s Party, Democratic Montenegro, as well as a significant number of Europe Now Movement MPs.
Knezevic pointed out that he expects the support from PM Spajic.
Speaking about the current relations between Serbia and Montenegro, he said that they could be much better.
“Unfortunately, whenever Montenegro gets closer to Serbia, Tonino Picula appears, Tomislav Sokol appears, Minister Grlic Radman, Andrej Plenkovic appear with new threats and demands towards Montenegro, saying that we will not enter the European Union unless we meet the demands they set previously”, said Knezevic.
According to him, Croatia is not satisfied with Montenegro and Serbia having close ties.
