Knezevic: DNP to launch initiatives to withdraw recognition of Kosovo

Podgorica, (MINA) – The Democratic People’s Party (DNP) will launch a campaign aimed at withdrawing the decision on the recognition of Kosovo, announced party leader Milan Knezevic.

In a video address to the media, he said that he received support for this at the DNP Presidency session.

“Today, at a session of the DNP Presidency, I received support to launch activities and a campaign to withdraw the decision on the recognition of the so-called state of Kosovo, together with the DNP vice-presidents, parliamentary club and councilor clubs”, said Knezevic.

He stated that upon entering the government of Milojko Spajic, the DNP had signed a coalition agreement committing not to insist on the issues that allegedly could cause divisions.

Knezevic remarked that one of those issues was the initiative to withdraw the recognition of Kosovo in the territory of the municipality of Zeta, stating that the party accepted such an agreement in order to, as he said, help create institutional preconditions for adopting the tricolor as the people’s flag and for the Serbian language to be standardized as official.

He said that the DNP, after their initiative on the tricolor as a people’s flag was rejected and following the PM’s Questions session in which Spajic referred to Serbia a neighboring country, decided that the agreement is no longer valid.

“In this regard, as soon as tomorrow, the DNP councilors will launch an initiative to place on the agenda a declaration on the withdrawal of the recognition of the so-called state of Kosovo on the territory of Zeta”, announced Knezevic.

He said that their councilors clubs, in other municipalities across Montenegro, would also launch this initiative.

“The DNP Parliamentary Club will also submit an initiative in the form of a resolution requesting that the Government take steps to withdraw the recognition of the so-called state of Kosovo”, added Knezevic.

He added that for that decision he would seek support from Metropolitans Joanikije and Metodije and Patriarch Porfirije.
